Graphing Calculator - Olchiki Numerals
Plot and visualize mathematical functions with our interactive graphing calculator with Olchiki numeral system support.
A free online graphing calculator for visualising mathematical functions. Plot up to 6 functions simultaneously with different colours to compare their shapes, find intersection points, and identify roots. Supports polynomials, trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan), exponential and logarithmic functions, and any combination thereof. Zoom and pan controls let you explore the graph at any scale, from a broad overview to a close-up of a specific intersection point. Use standard mathematical notation: * for multiply, ^ for exponents, sqrt() for roots, sin() for trig functions.
About This Numeral System
Ol Chiki numerals (᱐ through ᱙) are the digits of the Ol Chiki script, created in 1925 by Pandit Raghunath Murmu as a dedicated writing system for Santali — an Austroasiatic language spoken by roughly 7 million people, primarily in the Indian states of Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Assam. Unlike many South Asian scripts that evolved from Brahmi, Ol Chiki was deliberately designed as a complete alphabet with its own numerals, making it one of the few modern intentionally created scripts in active use. This calculator displays results in Ol Chiki numerals for users who read and write in Santali.
How This Calculator Works
Function Plotting: y = f(x), evaluated at sampled x values
The graphing calculator samples the input function at regular intervals across the visible x-range, computes y = f(x) at each point, and plots the resulting coordinate pairs. Intersection points are found by detecting sign changes in f(x) − g(x) between adjacent samples and refining with bisection.
Worked Examples
Input: Plot y = x² and y = 2x on the same graph
Result: Intersection points: (0, 0) and (2, 4). The parabola opens upward; the line crosses it at the origin and at x = 2.
Key Features
- Up to 6 simultaneous functions
- Zoom and pan controls
- Intersection detection
- Export graph as image
Frequently Asked Questions
What functions can I plot?
You can plot any standard mathematical function including polynomials, trigonometric functions (sin, cos, tan), exponential and logarithmic functions, and combinations thereof.
Can I plot multiple functions at the same time?
Yes. You can plot up to 6 functions simultaneously with different colours to compare their shapes and intersections.
How do I find intersection points or roots?
Plot the functions you want to analyze. Intersection points appear where graphs cross, and roots (x-intercepts) appear where the function crosses the x-axis. Use the zoom and pan features to get precise visual readings of these points.
What is the syntax for entering functions?
Use standard mathematical notation: * for multiplication, / for division, ^ for exponents, sqrt() for square roots, sin(), cos(), tan() for trig functions, log() for base-10 logarithm, and ln() for natural logarithm. Use parentheses to group expressions, e.g., "(x+1)/(x-1)".
What angle modes are supported for trigonometric functions?
The calculator supports three angle modes: Degrees (DEG), Radians (RAD), and Gradians (GRAD). Select your preferred mode from the settings before plotting. For example, sin(90) in degree mode equals 1, while sin(π/2) in radian mode also equals 1.
Can I graph piecewise functions or inequalities?
The calculator currently focuses on continuous functions. For piecewise functions, you can plot each piece separately by adding multiple function expressions with appropriate domain restrictions using mathematical notation.
Why was Ol Chiki created when other Indian languages already had scripts?
Santali is an Austroasiatic (Munda) language, unrelated to the Indo-Aryan and Dravidian languages that dominate India. Before Ol Chiki, Santali speakers used the Latin script, Devanagari, or Bengali script — none of which matched the sounds of Santali well. Pandit Raghunath Murmu designed Ol Chiki specifically for Santali phonology, with 30 letters and 5 diacritics that represent every sound in the language. It is one of the few scripts in the world that was intentionally designed rather than evolving organically.
